Exhibitions

Animals feature in many of Jane’s paintings. She is regularly commissioned to paint their portraits but living on the edge of the atmospheric and inspirational open spaces of the rivers and tors of Dartmoor and the surrounding farmlands mean she has a limitless supply of further subjects and landscapes. Having lived for many years by the sea, water is also a favourite subject.

Pastel is her favoured medium, but a natural progression into oils finds this artist producing paintings in a similar style in both mediums. The pure pigments of pastel are compulsive as is the texture of oil paint

Inspiration stems from The Glasgow Boys, The Newlyn Group and Australian artists John Rowell, Elioth Gruner and David Davies as well as Malcolm Coward and Mick Cawston.

Jane continues to work from her studio in Gidleigh situated on the edge of Dartmoor. Inspired by her environment, she produces paintings that capture the very essence of nature, be it flora and fauna or the desire to portray daily life in this rural part of Devon.
